There is another anachronism that suddenly occurred to me. Very few people under fifty years of age will be aware of this. Prior to 1965, wall-to-wall (fitted) carpeting was almost nonexistent. The Sunshine Motel would have had wood floors with loose rugs.

I can confirm that. I still have evidence of that on my old floorboards, the house is over 105 years old and has several design eras and fads. The floors show where carpets were laid through the ages and at one point when these were still expensive they never reached the walls at all with a foot or so border all the way round. Also the same with stair and corridor carpets, they'd be well away from the skirting boards. From my own floors these uncarpeted border areas were painted either black or white. Another unknown fact is that carpet widths were limited to what a carpet loom could produce, so wide expanses were mostly stitched together strips. My aunt once worked for a traditional carpet company and had her 1930's front room carpeted in that way. I swear you couldn't see the joins. Anyway I'm lucky to remember the mid 60s, I can remember when my parents first bought their house and it had the exact same gap around the carpets too.

Another problem is why is everything just from '61, surely a good few things would be circa mid to late 50s unless the Motel had a recent total refit. Likewise for all the other objects. If you look at anyone's possessions they're from a mix of years, same goes for your pocket change. In reality only a few items would be current.

The article referencing the "extra guy".

When Wally read it in the car he said ... Mabel Smith, 24 ....

but, when Joe sets it down for Mabel to see, it says Mabel Smith, 30

Something that I always wondered about was if you are using a door to enter the room, what would happen if someone open the door from the other side? I would think the 'normal' door would simply not open until the dimensional threshold of the 'motel door' was closed. I'm sure someone asked this at one time but I forget.

Joe’s observation was that the door opens to a random door unless you picture a particular door in your mind. My guess is that if you tried to go through a door that is already open, you simply couldn’t get a lock on it. Your concentration would fail and you would either go through a random door or go through whichever door your thoughts settled on.

Here is another idea. The key obviously will not open to something that is not a door. Since an open door is effectively not a door at all, the key simply couldn’t take you to it.

On the other hand, if the door was already in use via the key, it would be open to the room and there would be nothing for someone outside of the room to open.

It could also just open to one of the many other infinite room 10s.

Is it possible while in the room to think of the room and open the door to another of the room 10's? And if you thought of a room in the past would you be able to travel to the past?

Eddie knew there was more than one room, so it is left open whether or not he ever visited one of the facsimiles. The possibility that he did, suggests a way of getting there.

There is no indication in the show that you can go to a different time, although there might be a relativistic argument for this. Suppose there was a door on mars you are able to get to. Since Mars is several light minutes from earth, if you could get into the room and get through the door on mars in less than a minute, you would be violating the theory of relativity. This would be tantamount to traveling backward in time.

Other than using the house phone, did anyone in the show try to phone out of room 10 and get a signal? Could you get a signal considering the room doesn't really exist in this reality and once the door was closed you're cut off? Would you get one if the door was open, or would you have to hold the phone outside the door?

Time, what time does the room exist in, the now or alternate reality time, our past, or static event time? Can you as suggested, travel to alternate times of certain room 10 realities or is the room frozen in it's own time no matter which of the infinite realities it appears in? If the room is legion, then why not the key and the occupant? What I'm now imagining is multiple reality motel men all using the same point of entry, to a multitude of room 10s without ever meeting and each returning to their own alternate worlds with their own set of objects. Room 10 is the pinch point in the infinite realities created by the event, the pinch or crossroads where they funnel in and out again. If you imagine each reality as a parallel strand running left to right in time, although they could be random, if you reach out and pinch them all together at a given point or simply tie a sliding knot at that point this would be where room 10 sits. Would this pinch point be a hyper reality outside of normal reality and alternate realities which already overlap and coexist without touching? Is the event the collision of these strand realities through a natural random event? Is then the pinch point a natural twist, a twist point so to say? Another way of looking at it is an hour glass, where each grain is an alternate room 10 passing through the glass pinch point a grain at a time and at which point you can access it.

I sense a theory coming on. You should start a new theory string. I dub this theory “Dimensional Convergence”.
