Outside the room
Ok, if the room is stuck at the time of the event, why is the shrubs moving outside of the room? Is this just a mess up or what? Or is it just impossible to get them to stay still?

Re: Outside the room
I think the room resets to the same time whenever you enter. so if you stayed in there long enough you could probably see a car or two pass by. maybe.
I dunno for sure though.

Re: Outside the room
I've always wondered what happens if you open the window and climb out.

Re: Outside the room
Ya Chris said they were going to go into that in the Mini series but never did. However he said he doesn't want to give up that little secret until the series continues in some form

Re: Outside the room
Nice theory,
but here's mine...
I don't think that time is 'Stuck' outside the motel room (Bush moving, plus we have seen the colour desaturation of the comb when used to freeze time, and its not like that outside) But at the same time I don't think that time continues. (Otherwise it would get dark). Sugesting that the Motel Room is on some other plane / relm / dimention, where there is no 'time' (That doesn't mean that time freezes, it means that it doesn't exist)...
That's my theory anyway.

Re: Outside the room
I too think we are seeing outside Room 10 in 1961 but albeit of time like Devai said...and my guess is that there is no one in the time frame....just an empty plane....a rip if you will...outside of all existence.
Chuckles
A whole new theory.....and totally realistic.

Re: Outside the room
I’m kind of partial to the idea that we are looking at the world in 1961, but with no people in it. If you were to go outside, you would find 1961 homes, cars, bicycles, etc, but no human inhabitants. It would be sort of like The Quiet Earth.

Re: Outside the room
I'd like it to be really weird like that, but having no people but buildings and trees, specially the plants which are living beings too doesn't hold theoretically out for me. It just brings up a load of nagging questions to where you draw the biological line and who decides. Either living things are all gone or they're all there. Personally I'd just go with 1961 repeating itself, in a semi static bubble of time. Then you could argue can you interact with what's there and change things and events somehow? Maybe the Event is outside there somewhere and you can see what caused it all. Maybe beyond the Event bubble limits there's nothing at all, like an ice cream scoop of time on an infinite empty plate.

Re: Outside the room
Yes, we always come back to that problem of “meaning”. How could there be a simple function that distinguishes between a human and either a plant or an animal?
One way to accomplish it might be to use a human’s own ability to distinguish meaning. Suppose, for example, that you had a group of people, animals, and plants in a garden. If you walked into the garden and calmly said, “In one hour the gardener is going to spray this entire garden with insecticide,” the people would leave and the animals and plants would stay behind. I’m not sure what similar function might be employed to make all the people in the world disappear, and leave all the animals and plants behind, but it is a starting point.
