Vocabulary
Collector Terms
OBJECT ADJECTIVES
active—an object with known individual powers. Examples: the pen, the scissors.
bipaulian—an object for which there are two legitimate representations in the show. Example: The Glasses.
bound—objects that are attached to the room. Examples: sink, toilet, carpet.
bound infratrivially paulian/semipaulain/etc—objects that are infratrivial and bound to the room. Examples: swatches of carpet, samples of paint.
bound paulian/semipaulian/etc—objects that are attached to the room and possibly cannot be removed.
dormant—an object with unknown individual powers. Example: the bible.
infidel—noun, a person who is not a member of the Collectors Cabal; especially when they deign to bid against Cabal members on precious objects. Example: The cursed infidel!
infrapaulesque—an object about which so little is known that a definite determination is virtually impossible. Examples: the ruler, the letter opener.
infrapaulistic—an item that may be absolutely screen accurate but that’s status as an object is strongly doubted. Example: the 1961 World Almanac.
infratrivially paulian/semipaulian/etc—objects that most collectors consider ridiculous. Examples: dust from the floor, room 10 air.
nonpaulian—an item that is not considered to be an object or not considered under any circumstances to be a suitable match. Example: a travel alarm that is not a Phinney-Walker.
paulesque—an object for which there is insufficient information to make a definite determination. Example: The Cufflink.
paulian—an object that is absolutely screen correct and beyond dispute (except for minor scratches, etc). Examples: the brown Phinney-Walker Travel Alarm, the Grundig 88 radio (U or CA is debatable).
paulianate—to make an object collection more paulian.
paulian-M—an object that has more than one possible manufacturer. Example: The Comb.
paulian-S—an object that has more than one possible style or specification. Example: The Quarter.
Paulian-2M (-3M, -4M, -2S, -3S, -4S)—an object for which the exact number of possible manufacturers or styles/specifications are known.
paulistic—an item that may be absolutely identifiable but that’s status as an object is in dispute. Example: the camera in the order temple room.
semibound paulian/semipaulian/trivially paulian/etc—objects that are attached to the room but may be detachable because they are screwed in, bolted down, etc. Example: room 10 light bulbs would be considered semibound infrapaulesque or possibly semibound trivially infrapaulesque.
semipaulian—an object that is not absolutely screen accurate but close enough until a better match is found. Example: a foot powder tin that has a slightly different label.
static—an object that is unbound but has managed to remain in the room. Examples: the bed, the bedspread.
synergistic—an object that has additional powers when combined with other objects. Example: the cigarettes.
trivially paulian/semipaulian/etc—objects that may satisfy the given criteria, but that some collectors would consider too insignificant to bother with. Example: a handle from sink.
ultrapaulian—an object that is precise in ways that go beyond the information provided in the show. Examples: 1961 quarter, Grundig 88U radio (and not a CA).
COLLECTOR ADJECTIVES
OA, object angel—an experienced and knowledgeable object collector who actively assists other object collectors with finding objects.
paulian collector—a collector that is very strict about the screen correctness of objects.
RMC, real man collector—an object collector who is willing to go the distance to obtain every object. A more gender neutral interpretation of RMC is really macho collector, or relentless merciless collector.
ultrapaulian collector—a collector that is strict about the accuracy of objects in ways that go beyond what is shown in the mini-series. An ultrapaulian collector insists that the quarter be minted in 1961 even though this is not specified in the mini-series. Some ultrapaulian collectors go so far as to insist that objects be different from the objects in the show merely because the different objects are more difficult to find.

Re: Vocabulary
I plan to fill in the examples of each term until every object is categorized. That way this will serve the more tangible purpose of helping new collectors understand where these objects come from and how difficult they are to find.

Re: Vocabulary
In keeping with Spike's egg theme, I have a couple of sillier suggestions for words:
incubidding - placing a marker for someone.
poaching- unknowingly bidding against another member.
I know the Founders have established courtesies to keep our group fair and unified.
If my definitions are thought to be divisive or just plain mean, then I will understand if this post gets deleted.

Re: Vocabulary
I thought for sure you had seen it. It needs to be corrected and updated. I can do that during my break.

Re: Vocabulary
sometimes when I come to this site I have to reset the tab "mark all forums as read"
It seems sometimes when I come here they all have the "new" logo but none have really been updated....it must be a glitch.
And no I never saw this until today...weird ! but I LOVE it !

I added your terms to the list. Incubid was added as both a noun and a verb. The definition of poaching was expanded to include both accidental and deliberate bids against another cabal member.

Re: Vocabulary
I have updated and corrected the chart. Feel free to point out any perceived errors.
Paul was mistaken earlier when he commented that he had become an entire glossary. Actually, he has become an entire taxonomy.
