posticon A Theory of evidence

As Eddie said that there is more than one room, it is quite possible that Eddie himself is from an alternate reality. This would explain the wedding picture and why no one remembers Eddie to begin with. It may also explain why there was no Room 10 at the Motel. Maybe in that reality there was no Room 10. Not all parallel realites are exact copies. It might also explain why the Objects have powers. Any kind of tear across realities could have untold effects on objects near the tear.

As an extreme science-fiction junkie, I will probably have many more theories yet. This one, to me, seems quite likely. However, as for the Event that caused the tear to begin with is still out of reach.

This seems reasonable to me. The key, now, is to find some way to test your theory. Is there something else in the miniseries that supports it? Is there any consistent characteristic of the objects or what they do or anything at all that seems to draw directly from this model?

I think this is much more plausible then the idea that Eddie's entire life was simply erased.

It goes along the idea that Eddie is not originally from that reality. Maybe in his home reality he was in Room 10. And like all things in existance it just happens, one of those little glitches. And Eddie goes to leave Room 10 and as he closes the door behind him he finds himself outside the Motel but Room 10 has disappeared. So everything he had on him, maybe checking out, became the Objects when he brought them with him.

I know, I know, what about the radio, maybe after someone new got a hold of the Key anything taken from the Room they find stays gone in all the rooms. Maybe it's the combining an infinite amount of radios into one single 'object'.

But it's just a theory.

But here's a question, could Joe's daughter be an object now and if he is the new Occupant then does that mean it's actually his version of his daughter.

Ok, here is an idea that goes along with the parallel reality theory.

We do not know exactly why particles in our universe behave as they do. For example, we do not know exactly why they have spin, mass, charge, etc. Maybe these particles are like cells in a big organism. They take in certain proteins, they process these proteins, and they send the processed proteins on their way. What they actually send on their way are observable qualities like spin, mass, etc. procedures in a computer program function in a similar manner, except that they take in data, process it, and send the processed data on its way.

If organs are moved to an alien organism they are isolated by the surrounding organism and, in a sense, rejected. Since objects would be from a different reality than their surrounding environment, they would be similarly isolated. This is why they cannot be pulled apart (destroyed). If they were pulled apart, the result would be their individual cells (particles) intermingling with the rejecting organism.

If a procedure is placed in an alien program it does not function properly. It takes in the wrong data and sends out the wrong data. This can cause the whole program to go haywire. In the case of objects, this is observed as their weird behavior. They do all these weird things because they are processing the wrong data, sending out the wrong data, and causing the whole program to malfunction.

Perhaps the reason why objects seem to be trying to get together is that the surrounding environment is trying to push them together and expel them from the system. This is similar to how a cyst if formed and eventually expelled.

The reason why objects seem to corrupt the people around them is that these people end up becoming part of the expulsion process. People like Wally and Kreutzfeld, who insist on exploiting the objects, end up becoming the walls of the cyst.

That's interesting to consider, actually. It always struck me more that it was more likely a case of parallel realities and time travel. Consider the agenda of The Order who want to bring all the pieces together from the belief that the whole collection will somehow open the portal to god, or to give them godlike power. It would work well that The Order might have much more at stake in the conflict of getting hold of all the objects to prevent the "expulsion" itself. Maybe a longer term end result to the separation of the objects by the Event would be to ultimately "unmake" the world?

I'm thinking in terms of the many parasites that invade the host body, different factions of them - some are helpful, some neutral, and some wreak havock. Some will absolutely kill the host after absorbing its resources. Some that lay dormant are actually activated by invading parasites and when they war each other for territory and resources, the injuries and illness of the host body is simply a by-product of that parasitic battle.

If individuals from Reality X managed to become trapped in Reality Y, the whacked behavioral properties could be attributed similarly as above: the host body of Reality Y is trying to reject the intruders...the universe we know as ours would be "god" itself. If the items are brought together they can be returned to their proper reality and the Order can secure its goal. If they remain too long in the parallel reality (ours), they threaten to unmake our reality. Anyway, that's the idea.

And just to really run down a tangent, I got a sudden Fantastic Voyage scenario trying to intrude now so I'll quit while I'm ahead.

Quick question - is there any other source that provides more meat/mythology for the cabals than the mention on the wiki page? Fleshing out the cabals would be worthwhile...or maybe it's open to interpretation and development by the fans of TLR?

How obsessive of TLR are we allowed to become before Chris starts getting all sketchy? ;p
