Agreed.

I thought that the piece that was on the side was a part of the blinder mechanism. But is does appear to be outside of the housing.

The only bad taste in my mouth, is the writing on the logo shield. You look back and forth between the Vault and the Chuckle supplied image and it looks, different. May be just a variant that is out there that Compak makes, or maybe just me.

Any which way, I'm going to look for one. Great find Chucklbunny.

The lower latch bothers me. The one in the vault seems more like the Pamex or Sportster. However, we have come up against this sort of thing before. Sometimes it is real and sometimes it is image distortion. Only time will tell.

The more I look at [sign in to see URL] more The Compak rings true with me.

The side lever is dead-on, the bottom latch that Spike mentioned is a dead-on match too, the way the black leather cover wraps around the whole upper and lower lids without chrome trim is 100% correct also.

The [sign in to see URL] can clearly make out the "k" in the vault pic but the rest of the letters are too blurry to make a definative identification but the other letters do fit into their respective [sign in to see URL] only drawback I saw was the label is not level like in the vault [sign in to see URL] can easily fix that.

unless someone can find a better match which will be a feat of great [sign in to see URL] Compak IS the brand we want hands down 100%.

I hearby summon The Apostle to bring his wisdom to this debate.

After our experience with the knife, I am not ready to make any absolute determinations about anything. If you recall, Chuckles, it was you who was skeptical about the iron. The weight on the back of the Stewardess iron in the best available vault image looked too large and round to be a stewardess; and yet the iron in Jess’s picks looks exactly like the Stewardess. I was skeptical about the Camper knife, but you found a way to harmonize it. I am still skeptical that some yet unseen brand of knife may turn up where the handles are consistently reversed.

My position, as usual, is that we only know what we know. To take a queue from the media, there are only suspects and convicts, but not any murderers.

And I agree 100%.....but I do make my determination based on my previous [sign in to see URL] "seal the deal" thing for me is that side [sign in to see URL] have so far never seen another set of binoculars like this in all my [sign in to see URL] it is clearly seen in the Jess pic.

The Iron is a great example and I don't forget it ! And even my recent hunts have shown the Universal to be correct every time. It is a humbling experience this quest we have taken [sign in to see URL] day some new bit emerges to take us [sign in to see URL] [sign in to see URL] dare not hope !

Getting closer.

Got the lever, and the long writing. The odd "K" shaped writing on the end of The Binoculars still doesn't resolve it.

Again, thanks Jess.

That’s just what I was afraid of. It is true that the Bushnell is not right on the money, but it raises the issue that there could still be a pair out there that looks as close as or closer than the Compak.

Here's another pair with the lever on the side:
