The nail file first appears in The Key and the Clock when Jennifer Bloom uses it to put Joe Miller to sleep. It appears again when Joe confiscates it from Jennifer; then again when he returns it to her along with The Weasel’s pen.

When the nail file is held at a certain angle (possibly to reflect light) it instantly causes a targeted victim to fall into a deep sleep that lasts for a few minutes.

The nail file has a fairly typical appearance. The file portion is metal and the handle is either wood or Bakelite. The handle is black or light brown.

Useful eBay search terms:

]vintage nail file
]bakelite nail file
]wooden nail file

No collector has ever found the exact nail file. Files have been found that are the right shape but the wrong color:

These can be repainted to look like the file in the miniseries.

Here, this picture shows the wear it has on it, if you want to make the exact one. emoticon

That’s a tough call, because in some scenes it doesn’t have the wear.

Still, I like the picture. I’ll use this one, but I need it bigger.

Well, if I try to make it bigger, it will lose a lot of its quality(even though the quality is already bad as it is) Maybe someone here know how to do that sort of thing.

If someone wants it bigger or better they can do the leg work. The description, as a whole, is adequate.

Re: The Nail File

when we post the full catalog webpage, catalog, and html catalog i will host all my enhanced pictures i have made from the show. Also i will host a section that will be separate from the discription of the object devoted to how to destress the object correctly and how it looks in the show.

But i am busy with two jobs right now and am trying to find some web buddies to hlep me put togeather the webpage since it will be my first real PHP webpage i will be makeing.

The articles don’t have to be absolutely symmetrical. If you post any information on distressing an object, I will add it in. that will give us a chance to shake it down and see what works. My intention is that we keep perfecting these articles until they are exactly what we want. When they are perfect, writing the real catalogue should just be a matter of cutting and pasting. The whole thing could be done in a single afternoon.
