The Radio
The Radio
classification: paulian-2S
(behind the scenes image provided by Jess)
(collection of Spikosauropod)
The Radio appears in The Key and The Clock When Joe Miller visits Jennifer Bloom at her home.
Supposedly, when tuned to the correct station, the radio makes one three inches taller.
The radio is a cream colored Grundig made in Germany. It is either a Grundig 88U or a Grundig 88CA. The U and CA indicate that it was manufactured for use in the United States or Canada, respectively. Since the radio is in a New Mexico motel room, it is presumably meant to represent a Grundig 88U. In the scene where Jennifer Bloom strikes the radio with a sledgehammer, the image of the radio has been reversed so that the shield is on the left and “GRUNDIG” is spelled backward:
Useful eBay search terms:
grundig 88* -(photofact)
Radios show up about once a month. They come in maroon and a very light lime/cream color. The maroon can be repainted to look like the original.

Re: The Radio
Should the body of the Radio be the same color as the face?

Re: The Radio
On the cream colored radio, the body is not the same color as the face. It is slightly darker and “greener”. The radio in the screen cap appears to be a cream colored radio like all the others that have been found.

Re: The Radio
So what color should I use, just cream? And what type of paint? I might be getting ahead of myself, but this is must-know information.

Re: The Radio
That is a tough one. I don’t think anyone has ever been quite satisfied.
First you need to use primer, because the plastic of the radio soaks up paint. Then, you need to choose a color that looks right to you. That is the most I can help you. Almost any type of paint will do. It looks best if you spray it on, but you can also paint it by brush and sand it.

Re: The Radio
Has anyone Found The Radio already the correct color? If so, could you post some pictures?
