Spike,
If you have a battery to spare then I'll take one and one only.....you are a brave man for those batteries will leak given time.....leakproof does not exist in my opinion....just keep them somewhere that you have baking soda nearby so in case of a major leak you can nullify it and don't keep them near the precious Objects for Room 10 sake !

A scan of the label will make us period and possible show correct batteries for I would bet that back in the 60's that if you bought one of these flashlight's new it came either with the batteries or right next to a display with them and at least 50% of buyers got the batteries at the same time so using probability in such a way I see no reason why the flashlight would not have such batteries.

Chuckles, those batteries have been around for sixty years. Why do you think they will leak now? They’re older than me, and I don’t leak. I did explain that I have no intention of using them?

I think if they were going to leak they'd have done so already. Then again back then they probably made them better with thicker walls, rather than the cheap and nasty ways of today. I've had some far east cells leak well inside their use by dates. You could still store them in the flashlight as long as you stop them making contact, with a thin piece of card say. I wouldn't risk it though just in case they do start leaking you wouldn't want them corroding your prize possession.

I think the batteries will look good in photographs next to the flashlight just like the pennies look good in photographs next to the pencil.

Whoa! Someone wanted those batteries a lot!

I think the seller has a bunch more, but time will tell.
