You can see that the TLR artist was closer to the Le Conte Oak, past the foreground trees and at a slightly higher view point. Not to mention at a different time. We have to also take into account that there's some artistic licence with some of the subjects.

It is unquestionably the same tree. It matches on at least a dozen points:

Re: The Wall Painting

The only problem I can see is if that painting was original and a total one off. If Jess can get a good high resolution photo of the prop, then it would just be the matter of getting the frame and having the photo printed to canvas.

Jess already said that all the props are locked in [sign in to see URL] is very doubtful that he could get a pic of it.

Our real hope is that the painting is a print and they made more copies.

Or we could blow up, center & unskew (plus recolor and clear up) the pic we have and print it out.

but lets not rush into this without figuring out our options first. we are so close on this you can smell the paint !

Re: The Wall Painting

perhaps we could get posters made cheaper. they would need to be a pretty high resolution image though. in the pic, its' just larger than a pillow, plus the frame, and a good print that big should be atleast 120 dpi.

the photo taken of the picture should be taken at 300dpi so it can be worked and edited and such, then prepped for printing. to get the best results, it should be lit from each side at 45 degrees with soft light.

i doubt we will have these conditions, so it may be worth our while to find someone who can reproduce the pic as close as possible with paint. that way we can get the brush strokes.

yeah, i'm anal. i'm a photographer. i reproduce peoples paintings all the time for archive purpose.
