I need this for school.

I don't have one of those USB port things to save documents on so I can transport them from home to school, so I'm hoping to save my paper on here so that I can access it to finish tomorrow durring study hall.

Sorry it's big and totally unrelated.
(If you feel like reading, then have suggestions, be my guest to leave them, hahaha.)

The Path of the Villain
Since the first hero story there has been a villain there to push the hero down his or hero path, but what about the villain’s path? Who or what pushed the villain down his or her path of evil? Joseph Cambell created the path of the hero which accurately portrays the life on any given hero. All the villains that have ever been created also follow a path. Their path, like the path of the hero, does not relate to every single villain, nor does every villain follow it in the exact same order, but the path of the villain plays an important role of every villain story.

A Simple Childhood
Most of the villains you will find started with a fairly simple childhood. For example, Grendel, as a young monster, lived with his mother in their cave. He didn’t know anything about the evils of the world. However, he knew that there was something more out there and that is proven when he said, “I knew-I seemed to have known all along- that the snakes were there to guard something” (Gardner, 16). The same type of childhood applies to the young Anakin Skywalker. He lived with his mother on the planet of Tatooine. They were slaves there, but they were together and life was simple enough. Anakin knew very little of the outside world, but he too knew that the universe was bigger than just his home planet.

Introduction to the Outside World
“And so I discovered the sunken door, and so I came up, for the first time, to moonlight” (Gardner, 16). It is here when Grendel first leaves his cave. The first night he doesn’t wonder far from his cave, but slowly and surely he becomes more confident in his night adventures. The discovery of the outside world opened Grendel’s eyes and gave him a sense of power. He is no longer held down by his cave or by his mother. From these night adventures Grendel realized that the world is his to discover. Anakin’s introduction to the outside world comes when he is taken, with permission, from his mother by Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan then explain the ways of the Jedi to young Anakin. Anakin, like Grendel, realizes that the world is his to discover.

Unexpected Attack/ First Real Great Pain
This is the most important step in the path of the villain. This step is what forces the being to realize that there is evil in the world, and not everyone is there to be friendly or helpful. For Anakin his first real great pain comes when he is no longer a young boy. Anakin is now a young man, and nightly he is haunted by dreams of his tortured mother. While watching over the senator Padme he goes with her to find and rescue his mother. His search leads him to his step-father and step-brother. His step-father tells him about how his mother was kidnapped and says to him “Your mother is dead son, accept it.” But Anakin does not accept it. He searches for his mother and is finally successful. As he holds her in his arms for the last time he grows angry at the people who took her away. After she dies he kills all of the captors in a sudden lack of control over his emotions. Anakin returns to Padme and the others to bury his mother and over her grave he promises he will never fail to save someone ever again. This first real great pain shows a darker side to Anakin while showing him that the world is not all good. Grendel’s first real great pain could also be called an unexpected attack. On one of his nightly adventures he gets stuck in a tree and is unable to escape. While Grendel is stuck he calls for his mother, but she never comes to save him. As Grendel hangs there, stuck in the tree he is attacked by a bull, then later a few humans. The bull’s attack is the first introduction Grendel has with any sort of violence and it shows him the evil side of the world. Then, when the humans come, Grendel realizes that he is truly different from them. They start out by believing he is a tree fungus, then they believe he is hungry and agree to fetch him some food, then suddenly they turn violent and begin to beat Grendel. The whole time he is watching the humans and trying to communicate with them. “You’re all crazy, you’re all insane” (Gardner, 27). Grendel’s experience with the bull and humans lead to his realization of evil.
