Re: Card case

I'm sure the case's purpose was to conceal the Joker but it could be part of the Deck of Cards object the same way the cap was to the Flask.

Re: Card case

For a while, I kept forgetting to take it with me so that I could get the right size rivets. Then, I forgot to bring along a picture so that I could get the right style of rivets.

Thanks for reminding me. I will print a picture right now and take it with me tomorrow.

Here is my card case:

Everything about it was a royal pain. It was difficult to change the color (I used thickly brewed tea), it was difficult to find a store that carried the rivets, and it was especially difficult to get the rivets in.

It was easy to buy. Thank you Piz for that singular benefit!

Re: Card case

I guess all this prop making reminds me of a line in that movie The Unbearable Lightness of Being where the doctor observes that life is like a sketch: you go over it one time and are never able to get it right. By the time I got good at dying leather and putting in rivets it was too late to put my skills into practice. It was over and done and it was time to move on to the next thing. It’s a difficult sensation to explain. It calls into question my whole existence—if you can stomach so much philosophical nonsense.

Another existential meltdown!

Thanks guys. Your approval compensates for the emptying experience.

OK, it’s someone else’s turn. Get the kit and start dying and riveting!

But I do have a [sign in to see URL] are NO leather/craft shops near me. So I am unsure where to hunt for the rivets, rivet tool and anvil. I have no problem staining it with thickly brewed tea but the riveting sounds like it will be a PITA.

Any tips I should know about ?

The tea didn’t work as well as I thought. After it dried, it still looked pretty light. I am going to get some leather die.

The leather store where Piz and I got our cases sells everything you need. The correct rivets will be hard to find. For some reason no one sells the open centered rivets any more. I am completely out—I ended up ruining two rivets for every one I put in successfully.
