Object Science

Ok, I am amazingly bad at sleeping, so if this seems off in anyway, blame it on lack of sleep. I have been thinking about TLR and various aspects of it and have gone down a path that I cannot simply leave off. First off, a question. Has anyone completed a replica of the Object chart from the Weasel? Or from the floor in rm 9 (if it is visible, I am not sure).

I am looking into the logic (again, assuming that there is logic behind it) of the combinations of objects and what they do together. Specifically, how the Collectors figured out what Objects were required for the Conroy experiment. I think, for me, that this event holds more intrigue for me than The Event. We have more info (a film even) and it is easier for me to speculate about this.

My current theory involves the relative "proximity" of the Objects. This could have been determined by observing the Objects and how they work together. For example, the watch and the knife would have a higher proximity on my Object chart than two items without a discernible effect (though admittedly, by far, not all combined effects are known). I could go on for hours about this, so I will shut up for now, but if anyone cares to discuss this, I definitely am willing.

I am not aware of any effort to reproduce or study an object chart. I recommend that you attempt this. If nothing else, it will be interesting to see a cleaned up layout of the various charts as well as a comparison. There is always the possibility that they are just haphazard arrangements of circles and lines, but one never knows. Maybe (just one possibility) when they are lain one over another they spell out Julianna Margulies’ phone number!

You can be our chartologist by virtue of having thought of the idea.

I will step up to this challenge. I will be out of the world for a day or two, but I will get on this as soon as I get back to my DVD's. I have a day or two in airports ahead of me, and then I will have access to a computer. I am not too savvy in the area of screen shots, but I can always learn as I go.

Wish me luck.

Re: Object Science

Yeah, I am currently sitting waiting on a bus to San Antonio. Then I fly from there to my wife at home for a bit of a vacation. I have not seen her for about 2 months, so it will be a good reunion. As a happy side note, I will be reunited with my copy of TLR too, which I will be taking with me this time when I leave again for another 3 months or so. Being apart from her will suck, but I will at least have something to keep me occupied for awhile.

Funny side note, while waiting for the bus in my room, I ran down to a little store that is a part of the hotel, and I ran across my first Object. They have a really close replica of the Comb for 25 cents. So, I am waiting on the Objects that I have ordered, and suddenly before any of them can arrive, I make a find. I was pleasantly surprised.

Well, I am rambling now. I still have not slept since the posts I made yesterday, so I will get off of here and stop this madness.

One of my favorite objects, that I mention all the time, is my coat hanger: $0.11 at Goodwill. It was probably the most fun, because it wasn’t intended as a sales item, and I wasn’t even sure they would sell it to me.

She looked it over and said, “Well, I don’t see any price tag on it. I’ll sell it to you for eleven cents.”

Here's one that'll drive you nuts. Start looking at your change to see if you come across a Quarter dated 1961 or earlier.
