Re: TIN MAN
I have seen all of “Tin Man” now. It was fun, but not particularly compelling.
The only really interesting string to emerge on the SciFi forum for “Tin Man” was in regard to Azkadellia’s flying cleavage monkeys. That mostly centered on finding descriptive names for an obvious ribald lark.
I won’t be spending a lot of time discussing “Tin Man”.

Re: TIN MAN
I stayed out of this discussion until I got a chance to watch the 2nd and 3rd episodes last night. I liked it, but obviously it was no LR.
Best parts for me were the references to the "Gray Gale" who turned out the be the original Dorothy, the prescence of the Wizard (DG's father) and the floating "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!" head (The Mystic Man) and strangely the Emerald Mausoleum.
Stuff I saw coming a mile away was the sister being evil being DG's fault and her later saving her and the Tin Man's son being the leader of the resistance.
I'm still not sure why the series was called "Tin Man" though. I didn't see him as the central character, albeit a very interesting one.

Re: TIN MAN
I just did not like it at all.......it was only a twisted version of "Wizard of OZ" and not a good one at that.
Currently right now the only TV show I watch is "Heroes" which is the only one worth it.
And of course my old staple "The X-Files"
Boy...If I ran the Sci-Fi channel.....what a different world we would live in.

Re: TIN MAN
I holy agree. The Sci-fi channel is getting very lazy in it's prgramming even on the daily rotation. Do we really need The Twilight Zone shown as often as it is? What happened to show like The Invisible Man and Good vs. Evil. I have seen these in daily rotation maybe once of twice over the last 5 years. Apparently they have people running the channel that have no idea about the material that the fans want.

Re: TIN MAN
Yeah but that's always going to be the case, especially in this day and age when people can so easily, and anonymously complain.
SciFi geeks (which is a term I use with great reverence) are like comic book geeks. Put nipples on the bat suit and we all go crazy up in arms about it.
We have no idea what goes on behind the scenes at SciFi. By all outward appearances it appears that they are making bad programming choices but we don't know how those choices are made.
Just me playing devil's advocate.

Re: TIN MAN
I have to admit that I am pretty unhappy with “Tin Man”. With the “coming out” that the SciFi Channel gave it, “Tin Man” should have been the next 2001 A Space Odyssey. In TLR, when Joe figured out how to get the clock out of the safe or used Wally’s bus ticket to get out of the vault, those things were profoundly clever. “Tin Man” should have had the same element and a whole lot more. Instead, it was just a lot of science fiction and fantasy clichés painted over with OZ memorabilia. When we got to the scene where Dorothy learned that she was responsible for the whole mess, that seemed like a turning point, but it was all wasted. In short, I felt cheated.

Re: TIN MAN
During the deployment of the Scifi channel forum for “Tin Man” the issue was raised that there seems to be a lot of new people showing up on the forum seeding new topics. The implication was that these people were insider sock puppets. I didn’t want to believe it, but I am beginning to change my mind.
The forum does seem to be infested with insider sock puppets. My observations indicate that there are two types. I have begun to refer to them as sun puppets and thug puppets. Sun puppets show up early in the deployment of a forum and seed “bright” sounding topics like “Isn’t Glitch cute!” and “List all the things you can think of that are wonderful about Tin Man!” Thug puppets are sock puppets that have been used for several forums and have accumulated a high post count. They are brought in to “beat up” anyone who says a lot of negative things about the show. To draw attention to their “status” other sock puppets make a point to show a lot of reverence for them. They use their supposed seniority in the forum as a bludgeon to put down the people who say negative things.
This latest thing they have been feeding into is possibly the most obnoxious I have ever seen. One of them got it started and they have kept it going for several days. It appears to be a way to maintain the hype until the third showing of “Tin Man” on the 24th.
quote:
Thought it might be fun thing to do until it reairs on the 24th
A-Azkadelia
B
Then the next person continues with B and keeps it going. Honestly!!!!!
This is not the behavior of people who are genuinely interested. It is the behavior of people who know they have a stinker on their hands and are trying to squeeze everything they can out of it before it is mothballed and forgotten. Besides, doesn’t everyone record these things now? If anyone loved it that much, why didn’t they record it? Are they really dying to see it for the third time and playing this game to satisfy their appetites until the 24th?

Re: TIN MAN
I just checked the SciFi Channel’s schedule for the next two months. They are going to have an all Sunday encore performance of Tin Man on Sunday March 9. There are no scheduled airings of TLR for the foreseeable future.
This reminds me of a scene in a movie—I have long since forgotten the movie—where a character played by, I believe, Bruce Willis can’t figure out why his ex-wife thinks she can sing. She is obviously terrible. Yet, a month later he hears over the radio an announcer introduce a “hit single” from a talented new artist. It turns out to be his ex-wife—as terrible as ever.
Why is there encore after encore of that awful, awful, awful atrocity and no TLR? Honestly, it just makes my underwear ride up and my socks feel itchy. It’s like diarrhea mixed with gas and bloating that just wont cease.

Re: TIN MAN
It just goes to show the sci-fi channel isn't even trying anymore to entertain it's viewers. They had Jericho on Mondays for what i thought was going to be 4 hours but the next week they have Star Trek Enterprise on again. And then Jericho at 10pm. Granted now that there is actually something on Monday nights it's nice to wrap the night up at 10pm to watch Jericho but do we really need Enterprise. It's been shown all the way through like 5 or 6 times now.
