Of course, you know what we want you to be writing, but you have to make a living. I know from your Amazon.com interview that you will bring TLR back if you can. We are still carrying the torch. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Spikosauropod)Wed, 13 Feb 2008 19:29:05 +0000 Re: WRITERS STRIKE!https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p4064,from=rss#post4064https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p4064,from=rss#post4064Sweet. I can go back to work! Well -- technically I've been back to work on my current script for the last few weeks because I'm writing for Dimension/The Weinstein Company, which signed an interim agreement with the WGA in January. But still! It does mean I can now pursue new projects with a vengeance. Cause that's how I do everything. WITH A VENGEANCE. Thanks to all you guys for supporting the WGA during the strike. It was an important fight and it was a shot in the arm for me personally knowing you guys were behind us. --Chrisnondisclosed_email@example.com (Christopher Leone)Wed, 13 Feb 2008 11:42:58 +0000 Re: WRITERS STRIKE!https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p4039,from=rss#post4039https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p4039,from=rss#post4039The strike is over. But what does it really mean? nondisclosed_email@example.com (Spikosauropod)Wed, 13 Feb 2008 02:44:32 +0000 Re: WRITERS STRIKE!https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2584,from=rss#post2584https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2584,from=rss#post2584A fellow cynic! But the beautiful thing about it is that the news does not have to call attention to it. When people are seeing reruns where “Desperate Housewives” used to be, they will take notice. In any case, I will do like you say. Uhmmmmmmm………………actually, this is about the only place I post any more. I’m a monoposter. But I have students. I’ll give them the links. Students are impressionable and they are a captive audience! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Spikosauropod)Tue, 20 Nov 2007 18:52:21 +0000 Re: WRITERS STRIKE!https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2580,from=rss#post2580https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2580,from=rss#post2580Guys please remember that the news is going to avoid calling attention to this. they are owned by the people who dont want this to be news. please take a moment and post the links to at least one other place you visit online! thanks nondisclosed_email@example.com (B4tg1rl)Tue, 20 Nov 2007 16:55:48 +0000 Re: WRITERS STRIKE!https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2543,from=rss#post2543https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2543,from=rss#post2543quote:Weird but cool. Thought you guys might want to know I ran into three LOST ROOM people while picketing. I ran into Peter Jacobson (Wally) at the Fox rally last week -- he's been on HOUSE this season, if you're watching. Then I ran into Jorge-Luis Pallo (Iggy) outside Sunset-Gower studios, and then about sixty seconds after that ran into our visual effects supervisor Eric Grenaudier, who is working on HEROES now. Weird but cool.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Christopher Leone)Sat, 17 Nov 2007 10:13:08 +0000 Re: WRITERS STRIKE!https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2541,from=rss#post2541https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2541,from=rss#post2541This strike is getting a lot more press lately. It seems that everyone in Hollywood is joining in. Great unity you guys! I applaud your commitment. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Spikosauropod)Sat, 17 Nov 2007 05:01:13 +0000 Re: WRITERS STRIKE!https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2487,from=rss#post2487https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2487,from=rss#post2487Chris (hope its ok to call you Chris) i couldnt Pm bc your inbox, unsurprisingly, is full but i assumed it would be fine to post some of these elsewhere. nondisclosed_email@example.com (B4tg1rl)Mon, 12 Nov 2007 20:39:52 +0000 Re: WRITERS STRIKE!https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2394,from=rss#post2394https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2394,from=rss#post2394I watched the video. That was great. Now I feel like I understand the issue. My instinctive reaction to any sort of protest is, “Oh, another protestor. I could try to understand their issue or I could go have a latte and shop eBay.” The only reason why I went to the trouble to watch the video you posted was that I feel invested in you personally. This is a difficult barrier to overcome. When viewers discover that they have only reruns this season, they may get interested and hear you out, but most likely they will just get mildly disgusted and bored and go shop eBay. Maybe you could get the studios to agree to make a docudrama that depicts the problems of writers. If you get your best writers on the problem, it could be entertaining as well as educational. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Spikosauropod)Mon, 05 Nov 2007 22:18:16 +0000 Re: WRITERS STRIKE!https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2393,from=rss#post2393https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2393,from=rss#post2393Ha! I didn't know about the red shirts until I got to the picket line this morning. I don't know what it means, except maybe it's more eye-catching. Thanks for the ideas, B4tg1rl. I think you're right about deflating the negative spin. Regarding DVD, I don't know how much other parties get, although I found this video that explains the core issue better than I can, so maybe I'll just direct people there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ55Ir2jCxknondisclosed_email@example.com (Christopher Leone)Mon, 05 Nov 2007 21:23:11 +0000 Re: WRITERS STRIKE!https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2382,from=rss#post2382https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2382,from=rss#post2382hello Chris I read some of this, will read in more detail later. If you happen to wander in and feel inclined, I have a few surface questions. Would it help to indicate how many cents per dvd other parties get? IOW it makes the bigwigs look worse to refuse to budge on four if you say at the same time that they get 22 or whatever it is. I like the advice about not getting worn down or taking neg spin to heart. Perhaps being more specific would diffuse that even further for participants. In a campaign of my own that wouldn't concern you, i often find telling people what to expect detractors to say makes it even easier to shrug off. and on a 'lighter note' relatively speaking - was the red shirt choice deliberate to enhance the undervalued aspect? or did noone think of the likely star trek red shirt angle?nondisclosed_email@example.com (B4tg1rl)Mon, 05 Nov 2007 15:12:07 +0000 Re: WRITERS STRIKE!https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2380,from=rss#post2380https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2380,from=rss#post2380Any news Chris?nondisclosed_email@example.com (paulv70)Mon, 05 Nov 2007 13:52:17 +0000 Re: WRITERS STRIKE!https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2351,from=rss#post2351https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2351,from=rss#post2351It was thoughtful of you to stop by and give us this information. I promise not to cross your picket line—albeit I’d have to travel a long way to do that. I hope this works out for you. I can live with reruns for a while. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Spikosauropod)Fri, 02 Nov 2007 21:56:50 +0000 WRITERS STRIKE!https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2350,from=rss#post2350https://bthecollectors.runboard.com/p2350,from=rss#post2350Looks like I'll be walking the picket lines Monday, folks. I hope you guys will support the writers & the WGA during this fight, and for that matter all the Hollywood unions as this is their fight too. Most writers in Hollywood are not rich AT ALL, but middle class and fighting to make a living, paying their rents & mortgages, and trying to keep up their union dues for health insurance. So if you read any anti-union propaganda calling us "greedy Hollywood writers" please know that this is utter bullshit. Anyway, if you'd like to read a bit more about it, I suggest starting with this article called Greed Is Good: http://www.workinglife.org/blogs/view_post.php?content_id=7268 And if you're curious about the specific details of the conflict, I suggest checking out http://www.unitedhollywood.com.
