My heart attack
April 5th of this year I had a heart attack, or at least what the doctors are calling a heart attack. Now get this. After having relations with someone, later that night my right shoulder began to really hurt, I had a hard time catching my breath. Did I panic? No. I actually went to bed, got very little sleep and the next morning I finally had my mom take me to the hospital. Well, they said I was having a heart attack. And that my symptoms were a-typical. Well, it turned out to be a complete blockage of one artery. They inserted a stent and 2 days later I was home. I haven't had any problems since. So that is another reason I have had a troubling year. That really doesn't bother me though. I wasn't scared the whole time. In fact, I think the thing that does bother me is that I was prepared for the worst or even the end. And I wasn't afraid! Sometimes I think I should have been scared but it kind of put it in stone that I have no real fear of death. I'm glad I found that out about myself but still what a way to find it out. LOL

Re: My heart attack
Wow! I can't even imagine how that must've felt. I'm just glad you're ok and that you were able to take something away from the experience.

Re: My heart attack
I understand Todd.....I too have an issue with my heart.....it goes out of rhythm on occasion.....I had to spend a night in the hospital and they put me on a monitor and caught it. It happens from time to time and it is a very bizarre feeling let me tell you.....it feels like your amped on speed and you don't come down.
So far it has happened only twice. Once on its own and once after I ran really fast. So now I am careful about what I do so I don't trigger it again.

I had a similar experience when my father died: I thought I should be sadder than I was. Finally, I realized the reason I wasn’t sad was that I was not on such bad terms with death. Sometimes it takes a really alarming experience to find the best in yourself.
Of course, there is also the possibility that you were “managing your fear”. You might want to be on the lookout for some post traumatic stress disorder. You might be experiencing that right now. It is good that you told us about this: we can make a point to put your concerns into perspective. We seem to be a remarkably tolerant and insightful lot on this forum!
