Re: Vocabulary
This taxonomy is for voluntary use only. No one is required to employ it.
The main impetus was to get away from the issue of canonicity. We were starting to quibble about whether an object was “in” or “out” of the object canon, so I invented a way to get around that problem.

Re: Vocabulary
I should add that I absolutely appreciate your input. No matter how carefully I scrutinize the vocabulary list, I am bound to miss something.

Re: Vocabulary
Yep
I am totally pro-it. If we want to be more than a "fan-club" we do need more scientific take *nods*
Just making a remark these terms may be over the bar for non-educated foreginers, like myself, in average conversation. Nothing more

Re: Vocabulary
The taxonomy is really just a collection of prefixes and suffixes drawn from ordinary English usage.
Both –esque and –istic are understood as diminutives. There is a tendency for –esque to refer to accuracy and –istic to refer to legitimacy. Hence, a painter who paints like Monet might be called Monetesque, while the post Hellenic era was called Hellenistic.

Re: Vocabulary
I agree with your assessment that in order to be more than just a fan forum we must be scientific. In order to keep the Wikipedia people from removing a link to our site from the object entry, Chuckles started calling us a “research site”.

Re: Vocabulary
I am not referring to the suffixes. The predixes are ok too, but the long combinations are too long for me
Nevertheless, they are logical.
Btw, I like the "research site" -thing

Re: Vocabulary
And I LOVE the Collectors vocabulary, that's more tickling of my sense of humor, therefore gives more warmth into the conversations... eventhough those are not scientific... but they are really easy to remember hehheee
