The Coat

This may be the most difficult Object to acquire, I know, but it is my dream to be the first to own it.

If anyone has any useful information, please do share it. I was considering having it custom made based on the pictures and specifications in Spike's post on it, but before I do something so drastic[ being that it is not certain it will be show-accurate but is certain it will be pricey ], I'd like to gather all available resources to find a pre-existing replica if one exists. And surely it was an existing coat around the 60's?

It may have been made specifically for the miniseries, but I'm not so sure they would do this with retro coats readily available..

The Coat is one of the least understood objects:

Maybe. It would certainly be worth a try if there was one near me, but it's also no likely to be show-accurate.

Re: The Coat

Oh the Coat #%@!
Please check the information gathered
The color, the buttons, the weave, the collar
the pockets, by no measure an ez match

To my knowledge no one has a close match
let alone a show object. But since each of
us makes the call on: closeness, army/navy
is as reasonable opinion as any

I stopped searching for the coat because I
had the deep sense it would drive me insane
I'm not joke, here. It is maddening looking at
1000s of the wrong coat, I rather look at
1000s of ash trays.

Good Hunting

Re: The Coat

I know it is a old school NAVY " PEE " coat

it was given out to the lower ranks who were on ship or dockworkers

WWII - it was also one of the most easiest to modified to civvies' style
that more then likely why no on can match it so close - it started as a old prop "knee length guessing to act like armor" and was cut and dyed to make it more personal

now the buttons - seeing that their sewn "on to the coat" would they in fact be their own objects "
the thread hold the buttons could not be broken outside room but meld the button to the coat
