Re: found a grooming kit
Since this was originally a halftone image, getting it into a form so that people could download it and print it was no easy trick. I finally got an acceptable result by scanning it at 1200 dpi and blurring it. At 1200 dpi, blurring it only causes the separate dots to blend together. There is no loss of apparent resolution. This image is nowhere near 1200 dpi. I had to reduce it quite a bit to make it small enough to post. If anyone wants an archival image, I also scanned it at 3600 dpi. However, the file for that is so large that I will have to email it to you. At 3600 dpi even the flaws in individual dots are visible.
Print this at slightly over 3 1/8 inches width. You may have to play around to get it just right. When I printed it at this size, it was indistinguishable from the original.

Re: found a grooming kit
I tried to email the 3600 dpi image to someone, but the file was too large. If you would like the 3600 dpi image, please PM your mailing address.

Re: found a grooming kit
Yeah, you have to zip it. And preferrably use gmail account, as many other emails do not allow big attachements.

Re: found a grooming kit
It appears that I was able to send it as a zipped bitmap image. Thanks Cat!

Re: found a grooming kit
The paper inside all four of the shaving mirrors I have looked at all seem [seem] to be printed on newsprint. The problem with this type of paper is its major acid content in the fiber, so if you print to this stock it is not archival. I don't even know how well it will run through an ink jet printer.
also for the purest: having the 180 - 220 dot screen which makes up the image as sharp as possible is the goal. A little hard to do, but so Is nearly everything else we do with this set of objects. You got to honor the material.
One last thought. In the old days wallets and picture frame would come with a cheap paper image of a family or wife. It was a placeholder. I thought this was the case with these mirrors, but on pulling a part four of them I don't thing there is enough space between the glass and nickle frame to fit a standard photograph. Photographic paper is four to five times as thick. So I think the image of the stars were actually meant to be left inside the mirrors or swapped with a movie star you favored. It is possible one could order a shaving kit with the star of your choice. This needs further research.

Yes, but it is free to get. And you can use it just for this purpose, unless you fell in love with it, like I did.
I can google-search items from my inbox. Like a letter from 4 years ago, out of which I only remember couple sentences.
