found a grooming kit
The grooming kit has the same leather 'x' as the inventor photo. Further this is where the shaving mirror went.

sorry I should have been more clear. I think the manufacturer of the kit is called Esquire. I'm basing this on the placement and shape of the piece of leather. And the fact that its holding the shaving mirror. I didn't mean to imply that the kit I found in anyway was the one we seek.
You would think me a fool to be so blind, and justly so, sometimes I am not clear as I should be.
Newbie lesson two: be clearer.
I hope you have time to take a look and I await your option
oh oh the reason i post the image was i hoped it might limit or tighten the scope of search.

The cross does look close. But it could be just a company wanting to achieve the same effect.
The rest of the items are far enough away that it's probably coincidence. If they were going to be that close on that one item and it WAS the same company, they'd probably be closer on the other objects.

Here somethings I found on the net. The Progressive Leather Goods CO. of New Your had a line of grooming kit that had a national market in the late 30's. They hold a patient on a cute item call hang-a-pak. It's a leather flap that's sewn into the inside of the case with a brass oval ring that allows you to hang the bag on a door letting the groom kit lay flat and have easy access to the grooming items. In 1938 Progressive took out an ad in Life mag. A price list starts of $10 and goes up to $35. I believe the prices represent a range of product lines. One of those lines I believe was Esquire that was a lower end product. This design shares the some arching leather sewn strap that is present in our grooming kit. Sad thing is our object does have a hang-a-pak element <sigh>. That would have totally tied the two grooming kits to the same manufacture.By the 60's like damn near every company we are look at was bought by a Seco Leather pdft out of L.A.
I have found only one Progressive gentlemen's grooming kit at esty and it had been sold. Nothing on Progressive or Seco leather companies. It would me great if I could get a Progressive catalog to either rule out or strength the connection between what we seek and how to find it.
What I currently believe is the case. is our grooming bag is a knock-off of the Progressive. I'm going to search on all thing Progressive Leather Goods in the hope it points back towards our groom kit. Can't hurt.

Thank you. I see the reasoning. Up way too late and the thinking gets a little thin.
Going to Berkeley this weekend going to shoot the grove area where the Le Conte oak was.

We would like to urge you to visit the university library, maybe you could find the Conte Oak photo's original. Take a screenshot of the Wall Picture with you, maybe they know more about it.
Although I have no idea if it's open on weekends.
