Re: Campho Phenique
I think people have always referred to it as Campho Phenique. It is one of those things like Alka Seltzer and Pepto-Bismol that is not known by a generic name. If someone had an upset stomach, you would tell them to take an Alka Seltzer or some Pepto-Bismol, not to take a seltzer tablet or…whatever Pepto-Bismol actually is. If someone had symptoms that appeared amenable to Campho Phenique (whatever those symptoms may be), you would tell them to apply Campho Phenique.

Re: Campho Phenique
I have never heard of anything called Alka or Pepto
To me those sound something of alkalide and peptide....
I try to keep the catalogue easy to access, even for those first time on the Collectors or foreging language.
I want to have each and every mark on the list to follow same naming system.
That is why I use the 'Antiseptic Dressing Powder' in my list, but if you want, I can add the producer/brand name behind the catalogue sortin name, if known.

Re: Campho Phenique
I do not actually see a conflict why we should have ONE particular name, as long as we keep the list short.
'A loved child has many names'
If we are precise, the actual and whole direct to the thing would be:
'Tin of Campho Phoenique Antiseptic Dressing Powder'
I think I might have to rename all Objects on the list the same

Re: Campho Phenique
I agree that the name “The Campho Phenique” goes against the usual pattern. It seems inevitable. I also have no objection (in this case) of everyone naming it as they see fit. Probably, if we just allow people to name it as they see fit, one name will naturally win out. It just depends on how often we refer to it. If there are never any sequels, in any form, to TLR it may never matter. If there are sequels, we may eventually learn the authors intended name.
