Are we sliding into collecting the whole room? I guess that is inevitable.
You know it ! until we get detailed pics of the contents of The Suitcase and eddie's pockets (wallet) then the furniture is naturally next.
But it is cumbersome to undertake this road.....and quite costly......I still plan on building Room 10 someday....the thought never left my mind.

Re: Desk Chair
Good job!
I see we are working our way into furniture. Together with the schematics provided by Jess, you will be able to build the room of your dreams.

Re: Desk Chair
building the room is a long way off.....but getting the furniture should be fun ! I could use some good ole fashioned furniture around the house so it would not go unused.
The Bed would be the most cumbersome to obtain and store.....
The Desk Chair would look cool and I really like it alot ! almost all of my freinds have furniture building experience so redoing the chair will be cake work....except for the reupholstering...that I will have done by a pro.

Re: Desk Chair
pfft reupholstering is piece of cake if you got the right tools: the furniture crowbar is basicly a chisel with v-shape hole on the edge. An air-compression nailgun is not needed on a small-scale job like this; all you need is a powerstapler. To make soft curves you need a hairdryer. Vinyl is easy that way.
If you can do woodwork and have seen stuff sewn or made christmas cookies with cookie-cutter, you can reupholster a simple vinyl-covered chair.
1: remove all staples/nails and screws you see around the backrest and seat
2: use the chiesel or similar item to gently push the vinyl edges from under/around the edge to remove the holstering
3: use the old pieces as a pattern and draw it on the wrong side of the new vinyl with chalck, pencil or waterproof pen. Cut around the lines, but allow about INCH extra allowance outside of the drawing.
4: see what was used as a padding and put similar piece of similar material in it´s place. Use hotglue or piece of duct-tape to hold it in place
5: do not use solvent-based glue on vinyl, it melts!
6: use duct-tape or heavy-duty pins to stretch the new vinyl around the edges, using the hairdryer, carefully to warm the vinyl makes it go nicely over round shapes.
7: do not stretch the vinyl too tight, as it needs to live along the sitter. Make few pinholes on the vinyl, so it can blow extra air out while sitting.
8: use the stapler to fasten the fabric on the hidden side of the chair
9: trim rough edges

Re: Desk Chair
I have decided to pass on that chair.....the reason is that the back brace from the show chair has 4 screws holding the backrest on but the auction chair has 3 screws and that is a change I will not try to make.
I will hold out for a more correct chair.

Re: Desk Chair
It is awfully close. Only the fabric and the texture of the wood are off. The fabric can be changed, and you may never find the exact texture of wood.

wood is unique....no one could match the grain of the show chair ever.....the seat cover will be a compromise...they don't make covers like that anymore so all I can hope for is color match...the show one is marbleized and vintage...impossible to duplicate...I feel it would be pure 100% luck to find one EXACTLY like the show chair...modification is our best bet.
I did win the chair by the way !...soon I will have it and have detailed info available on it.
