The Desk Chair

Well, I was cruising the interwebs, and I found this:

ignoring the color of the fabric/vinyl, it's looks very similar to the desk chair.

It's called a "Thompson Chair" and seems to be made (from the few I could find) by Gus modern.

Re: Desk Chair

After more research, the original chairs were apparently designed by a man named Thonet, and can be found under the name Thonet Chair (along with many other names).

I'm curious about to what type/color vinyl the chair has, and if it's not simpler, to buy a similar chair and upholster it.

Re: Desk Chair

Good investigative work. The term Thonet led me to the terms bentwood and Swedish. I think we can home in on this.

Unfortunately, I have to get up early. Nighty night.

Re: Desk Chair

Doing a little more searching, the style of chair is Eames

I've found some that have a handle cut into the back, and some with only the vinyl on the seat, but not the backrest.

I've also an old (and ended) Auction with the specific back cushion shape ]Here.

Remarkable. We are great.

Even if no one actually acquires one of these, it will be nice to get the scoop.

I’m off to work.

It appears that the chair on the left is exactly right except for the color. Where did you find it?

Re: Desk Chair

I found the source of the Mr Liver image. It was a Craigs List sale that ended.

These chairs are definitely attainable under the bentwood Thonet designation. The pair was $125. That doesn’t seem too bad to me. When we first started looking for the scissors and the flask, I would gladly have paid that.

Are we sliding into collecting the whole room? I guess that is inevitable.
