Re: The Shoes
Those look good, but the inside is not a light tan.

Re: The Shoes
Actually, I thought the insides matched up nicely. They are in different lighting, though, so it is difficult to tell for sure...

Re: The Shoes
This was my email conversation with the shoe guy:
ME:
>
> Thank you for your prompt response. I've looked into the matter more seriously, and I think I've narrowed them down to a Freeman Shoes oxford model from, as you said, the 1960's. Where might I find an old pair of shoes such as this? Are there any good websites or specialty dealers?

HIM:
Hi,
Well, now that is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I don't search for specific shoes so I can't give you advice on that. Shoes, in general from the 60's are still around, but to find that particular shoe would be difficult. It's not like that many people are really "collecting" them although it could be in someone's random collection. It is a handsome shoe. Good luck!
Kind of sucks...

Re: The Shoes
So, no one collects shoes? Someone somewhere ought to do that.

Re: The Shoes
These might not be right. The design on the side would show from this angle, but there is no side-lacing on these.

Re: The Shoes
It's pointless to keep thumbing through Google's images in the hope of finding an obscure pair of shoes. We should compile a list of vintage apparel site that carry shoes on a rotating basis, and check those sites every week. To that end, I will begin this list, but any help would be appreciated!

Maybe we can find some help here: Shoe Expert Advice
I've tried to register and log in, but there seems to be a problem. I can't post anything.

Re: The Shoes
I once tried to find a pair of shoes for another reason, anyway I got no where but suddenly got inspiration from an episode of CSI. Was watching CSI Vegas and they refer to a Sole Make Database so it gave me an idea and I googled for it. Sadly no results, so I changed the keywords slightly and got this: http://www.crimeshoe.com/

Re: The Shoes
I made a HUGE breakthrough in the shoe hunt...
The shoe we are hunting are "split-toe" oxfords !!
However I still cannot figure out which ones we want...but the split-toe is it...in black and size 10 1/2.
Come on members...lets get this done !
